Natalie

Natalie Odd has lived in Calgary for over 30 years and is a graduate of the University of Calgary. Natalie completed an M.A. in Environment and Management at Royal Roads University. She and her husband have a young son.

Natalie OddSince 2003, Natalie has been the Executive Director of Clean Calgary Association, an urban environmental non-profit organization that empowers Calgarians to create healthy homes and communities through environmental education, products and services. Natalie represents Clean Calgary Association on the City of Calgary’s Environmental Advisory Committee and on the Alberta Ecotrust Foundation Board of Directors. Her position has also provided many opportunities for partnerships and collaboration within the public, private and non-profit sectors.

Within the private sector, Natalie worked for three years at a Calgary-based environmental consulting company providing support for international sustainability projects. Natalie has also been a volunteer Earth Day events coordinator and she spent a year in Ecuador volunteering in a developing community that struggles with poverty, deforestation and lack of health care.

In addition to her involvement in the Calgary business community and her work on environmental issues, Natalie is deeply concerned about social justice. For 20 years she was an active volunteer with a local branch of Amnesty International delivering presentations, helping to coordinate campaigns and events and promoting awareness about international human rights issues. She has also supported UNICEF as a volunteer speaker and fundraiser and she gained a thorough understanding of the health challenges faced by Calgarians living in poverty when she worked for Alberta Mental Health.

Natalie speaks French and Spanish and has lived, studied, worked or volunteered in England, France, Spain, Sweden, Ecuador and Slovenia.

Playing community soccer has been a very important part of Natalie’s life in Calgary and she continues to play in the Calgary women’s soccer league. Natalie enjoys Calgary’s bike paths and parks and excursions to the mountains with her husband and young son.

As the Calgary Centre riding candidate, this is an opportunity for Natalie to support the Green Party’s practical and compassionate platform. She believes that financial responsibility and strength requires respect and protection for people and our natural resources.
